The Redeemed Christian Church of God was founded in 1952 by Pa Josiah Akindayomi who passed on to glory in 1980. Since her inception, the church has grown to about 7,000 branches/parishes worldwide with a total congregational strength of over five million people, especially under the leadership of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, an estwhile Applied Mathematics Professor who became the General Overseer in 1980.
Presently, there are established missions in the United States, most African countries, as well as Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Canada, South America and Australia.
RCCG has also been involved in numerous missionary activities, establishing schools, rehabilitation centers, food banks, child care and support centers.
Pastor Abbey had a vision, while he was the youth pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God “House on the Rock” in Grand Prairie, for a Church that would be called Youth Fun International Parish, an outreach center that would attract youth from all over the Metroplex. Divine inspiration to create the center struck Pastor Adeyeye in 2002. As soon as the vision was given, Pastor and Comfort Adeyeye started church in their living room in January of 2002. Church Members meeting every Sunday at this time were Pastor Abbey Adeyeye, Pastor Comfort Adeyeye, Minister Eddie Adeyeye, and Minister Josephine Oke. Concurrent to this period of time faith pushed Pastor Adeyeye to begin scouting potential locations for the church in Euless, where he and his wife lives. In addition to Sunday Service in their home there was also a Prayer Meeting every Saturday from 2-3pm with the members at the time. They would find them selves doing this obediently in their home for the next six months.
After this six-month period the vision of Pastor Adeyeye became reality. They found a 6,500-square-foot building located at 1717 W. Euless Blvd in Euless Texas that had been vacant for about nine years after previously being used as a restaurant location. The location’s proximity to the Parks at Texas Star would make it easy for the church to reach out to youth who hung out in this area. This location would later be known as Redeemed Christian Church of God: Mountain of Praise and Worship.
After confirming the location that would be used as the church construction had begun in transpiring the building that once was used as a restaurant and then an office complex into a Church that would be used to reach many souls. During this construction period the members of the church rented out a Liberian Meeting Hall across the street from the new location for a $100 to hold Sunday Services. This would last about 2 months before the city would hand over the keys to enter the new building.
Although the keys had been handed over the sanctuary was still being completed and utilities were still being installed. Pastor and Mommy Pastor would come every morning from 5am to 6am with candles to pray, sometimes accompanied with Pastor Raphael, since at this time lights had not been installed. This would later turn into what we know today as “Good Morning Holy Spirit”. Prayer meetings held on Saturday’s now moved from the living room of Pastor and Comfort Adeyeye’s home to the church. This Saturday prayer would continue until the church opened.
Sunday Services would also be moved from the Liberian Meeting Hall to one room in the church. Services would be held on one side of the church while construction was going on the other side. This room ended up being known as the “Computer Room”. As services were held every Sunday in this room members began to join the church. This construction period would last the next 9 months.
On April 26, 2003 Redeemed Christian Church of God: Mountain of Praise and Worship was officially open. Mountain of Praise and Worship was destined to be one of the first of its kind for the organization as it had a mindset that focused on the youthful generation. This became a large facility with much to do so that everyone from different backgrounds had the opportunity to fit in.
We were located in this facility from April 2003 till June 2009 when the Lord gave our Pastor another instruction that it was time to move. After divine intervention and stumbling upon a building the rest was history. Today Redeemed Christian Church of God: Mountain Of Praise and Worship is located at 2807 W. Euless Blvd, Euless TX 76040.
